Please receive the May edition of the Fireaway Club Newsletter.
The next meeting takes place this coming Thursday, 28th May, Guildford Arms bar, West Register Street, at 7:30pm. Socials are very relaxed, informal and held in the open bar area of the pub. If you've missed the last few, or not been before, the May meeting is an ideal opportunity to drop-in for a pint.
A walk along part of 'The John Muir Way' in East Lothian is being arranged for sometime in early June. Details of the route and date, when finalised, will be posted on the website via the Latest News page and the Messageboard. Everyone welcome.
1) Volunteers Required:
An opportunity has arisen for retired members to assist Dave Farries, and The Scottish Fire & Rescue Heritage Group, in putting a mobile museum on the road across Scotland. Full details of the project and what volunteers would be expected to perform are outlined on the Fireaway website via the Latest News page:
a) Sad news with the announcement of the death on Monday, 27th April 2105, of retired colleague John Napier aged 66. Jocky was a stalwart of the Red Watch Sighthill serving virtually all his Fire Service career on that watch.
b) Tragic death of ex-South Eastern Fire Brigade colleague. On Monday, 13th April 2015, Fire crews from Kirkcaldy using line rescue gear recovered the body of 80yr old William (Bill) Binnie from the harbour at Kinghorn in Fife.
Current membership now stands at 186. See Latest News page for names of new members.
