Please receive the May edition of the Fireaway Club Newsletter.
The next meeting takes place this Thursday, 26th May, Guildford Arms bar, West Register Street, at 7:30pm. Socials are very relaxed, informal and held in the open bar area of the pub.
If you've missed the last few, or not been before, the May meeting is an ideal opportunity to drop-in for a pint.
A walk is being arranged for late May or early June 2016. Full details of the walk, when finalised, will be available via the Latest News page on the Fireaway website. Everyone welcome including non-members.
1)We've received an update from 'The Friends of Museum' on their campaign to save the museum based at Lauriston (HQ) building and a request for Fireaway members to help them. See the Latest News page on the website for full details.
2) The Photo Album page on the website has been updated with two 'Old Watch/Brigade photos.
1) Ian Bye
Sad news with the announcement of the sudden death of retired colleague Ian Bye. Ian collapsed on Thursday, 24th March 2016 whilst at Edinburgh Airport and sadly could not be revived by medical staff. The funeral service took place on Wednesday. 6th April at West Lothian Crematorium.
2) Dennis Devlin
Retied colleague Dennis Devlin, aged 68, died peacefully on Friday. 8th April 2016. Dennis served at a number of stations and departments including Sighthill, B.T.S. and Dalkeith.
3) Alexander (Alex) McArthur
Alex, aged 69, died peacefully on Friday,15th April 2016, He retired in 2001 at the age of 54 from Dalkeith green watch.
4) Robert (Bobby) Johnstone
Retied colleague Robert Johnstone died on Tuesday 19th April 2016. Bobby was a firefighter at West Linton fire station from September 1988 until his retirement in May 2008.
