FIREAWAY CLUB - SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
Please receive the September edition of the Fireaway Club Newsletter.
The next social is scheduled for Thursday, 27th September, 2018. Please note that this meeting will again have an afternoon start time of 2:30pm at Tiles Bar, I St. Andrews Street, Edinburgh.
Socials are very relaxed, informal and held in the open bar area of the pub. If you've not been before, or missed the last few meetings, the September social is an ideal opportunity to drop by for a pint and catch up.
1) A walk is being arranged for late September or early October. Full details, when confirmed, will be posted on the website and circulated to all members.
2) Walk on the top of Cairngorm Mountain - postponed
FIREAWAY FACEBOOK GROUP:
The Facebook group page keeps growing with more people joining and more photos and videos been posted. The group, to which all Fireaway members and ex-LBFRS employees are welcome to join, can be accessed at:

FOOTBALL MEMORIES & DEMENTIA:
Football Memories & Dementia, an initiative in conjunction with Hibernian Football Club, is a great charity which supports anyone who is suffering from memory issues.
The group meet regularly within Hibs ground at Easter Road to talk football and about the 'old days' in general. All the evidence suggests these events, apart from being enjoyable and fun, can help assist feelings of isolation and loneliness.
The meetings are open to anyone, not just football supporters. So if anyone has a friend or family member they think could benefit from attending the group, you'd be more than welcome to come along.
Many thanks to retired colleague Ian Omand for forwarding all the details about the work of the group. You can access all the information Ian sent via links on the Fireaway website either on the new Football Memories page or the Latest News page.
