Please receive the November edition of the Fireaway Club Newsletter.
The last meeting of 2015 takes place this coming Thursday, 26th November, Guildford Arms bar, West Register Street, at 7:30pm. Socials are very relaxed, informal and held in the open bar area of the pub.
If you've missed the last few, or not been before, the November meeting is an ideal opportunity to drop-in for a pint.
A walk, followed by a festive pub lunch, has been arranged for Tuesday 8th December in the Pentland Hills. Full details of the walk/lunch are available via the Latest News page on the Fireaway website. Everyone welcome including non-members.
1) John (Jock) Gibson:
Sad news with the announcement of the death, on Thursday, 12th November of retired colleague John (Jock) Gibson. Prior to his retirememnt in 2000, Jock had served as a leading firefighter at Livingston and Bathgate stations, and as a watch manger with the retained at Whitburn. The funeral service took on Thursday, 19th November at South Church, Whitburn.
2) Douglas Macpherson
The death of retired colleague Douglas MacPherson aged 81 was announced on Sunday, October 18. Dougie was an officer in Lothian & Borders before transferring to Grampian where he retired as a Divisional Commander.
3) Alex Gibson
Sad news with the announcement of the death of retired colleague Alex Gibson. Alex served at a number of stations including, Crewe Toll, Marionville and latterly Liberton.
