The next meeting takes place on Thursday, 29th September, Guildford Arms bar, West Register Street, at 7:30pm. Socials are very relaxed, informal and held in the open bar area of the pub.
If you've missed the last few, or not been before, the September meeting is an ideal opportunity to drop-in for a pint.
A walk has arranged across the Forth Road Bridge for Tuesday, 27th September 2016. Full details of the walk are available via the Latest News page and the Messageboard on the Fireaway website. Everyone welcome including non-members.
2) Retirement Function - Jamie McMurtrie:
Jamie would like to invite all colleagues, past and present, to join him for a farewell drink on Friday, 7th October 2016, from 7pm at Murrayfield Indoor Sports Club, 25 Roseburn St, Edinburgh EH12 5PE.
1) Norman (Norrie) McNaught
Sad news with the announcement of the death of retired colleague Norrie McNaught on Tuesday, 6th September, 2016. Norrie worked at Sighthill fire station for many years prior to his retirement from the service.
The funeral service took place at Seafield Crematorium on Thursday, 15th September. 2016. More details, including a photo of Norrie, are available via the Latest News page on the website..
2) Thomas Baird:
Sad news with the announcement of the death of retired colleague Thomas Baird on Monday, 12th September, 2016. Thomas was a Leading Firefighter at Linlithgow and former Lord Provost of the town
Funeral arrangements are as follows: 11:00hrs, Tuesday, 20th September 2016 at St Michael's Parish Church, Linlithgow. Thereafter to Kingscavil Cemetery, arriving at approximately 12.15 pm.
3) Jim Wallace
Sad news with the announcement of the death of retired colleague Jim Wallace (aged 66). Jim was a stalward of the Blue Watch Hawick until his retirement from the service.
Funeral arrangements are as follows: 11:00hrs, Wednesday, 21st September 2016 at Beatties Funeral Parlour (John Beattie & Sons, Weensland Road, Hawick), thereafter to Wellogate Cemetery (12:00hrs), Hawick. Funeral tea in Stampers bar afterwards.
