FIREAWAY CLUB - APRIL NEWSLETTER
Please receive the April edition of the Fireaway Club Newsletter.
The next social of 2019 is scheduled for this coming Thursday, 25th April a 7:30pm in The Booking Office pub, I7 Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh. This is a Wetherspoon's pub ideally located at the entrance to Waverley station.
Socials are very relaxed, informal and held in the open bar area of the pub. So if you've missed the last few meetings or not been before the April social is ideal opportunity to drop by and catch up over a pint.
A spring walk has been provisionally organised for Tuesday, 30th April. The walk will be in East Lothian ending with a pub lunch in North Berwick and a train back to Edinburgh for those from the city. Full details, when confirmed, will be posted on the Latest News page of the website and circulated by email to all members. Everyone welcome including non-members.
1) Sad news with the announcement of the sudden death of retired colleague David McNeill on Friday, 22nd March, 2019, following a tragic road traffic collision. Dave served at a number of stations and departments during his Fire Service career including Dalkeith, Crewe Toll and the BTS before retiring as a Watch Manager. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, 2nd April at Mortonhall Crematorium, Edinburgh.
2) The death of retired colleague Peter Stewart was announced on Tuesday, 12th February,2019. Peter retired from the Fire service after serving at Musselburgh fire station. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, 6th March at Warriston Crematorium in Edinburgh
3) Sad news with the announcement of the death of retired colleague Allan Stewart on Sunday, 10th March, 2019. Allan retired from the Fire Service in 1992 after serving at Dalkeith blue watch. The funeral service was held on Thursday, 21st March at Dunfermline Crematorium.
