Sad news with the announcement of the death of retired colleague Dougie MacKaill. Below is a copy of the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service internal memo detailing the death. Funeral arrangements, if we receive them, will be circulated to all members. 

SFRS Internal Memo:

"It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our retired colleague Douglas (Dougie) MacKaill, who passed away last week at his home. Dougie had served 25yrs and 11 days before retiring in October 2017. He served at Liberton and Marionville Fire Stations in the City of Edinburgh and was a Crew Commander.

Our thoughts are with Dougie's family and friends. Funeral arrangements and further details will be communicated shortly."

Update 18/09/20:

With thanks to Alex Hume who forwarded us the following details regarding Dougie's funeral:

"The Funeral will take place at Mortonhall Crematorium this Friday, 18th, at 10am. Due to the current Covid Pandemic numbers for attendance at Mortonhall are severely restricted and is by invite only by the family, this includes the grounds of the crematorium.

The funeral will be streamed live and can be found on Friday 18th at 10am using the following details;
