With thanks to Dave Farries who forwarded us the following notification:

"It is with great sadness that I also report the death on Saturday 12th august of a dear friend and Museum volunteer, Alistair MacDonald. Alistair retired from the Museum at Lauriston a few years ago due to his age and failing health but still came along occasionally to the new store to polish some brass, have a cup of tea and a chinwag with the rest of us. He died at home a year and a day since he had been admitted to hospital due to pains he was experiencing and was diagnosed with cancer. Alistair was looked after at home by his wife Liz who would bring him along to see us whenever he was up to it.

Starting out in the Auxiliary Fire Service in 1962 at Angle Park, Alistair retired out of the full time Service when he had completed his time.

Always a font of knowledge Alistair will be sadly missed by all of us who knew him."
