We are indebted to Dave Farries(snr) for forwarding the following information regarding the sad news of the death of retired colleague Lorraine Fraser:
"Have just spoken to Colin Fraser who has informed me Lorraine, his wife, died in the early hours of this morning (Friday, 3rd Sept) in hospital where she had undergone an operation a few weeks ago.
Lorraine, as some of you will know, started out in the office in Training up at Brigade HQ, Lauriston and then made the transition to Control where she spent the rest of her career before retiring. She was heavily involved in the local bowls scene and, like Colin, was a volunteer with the Museum where she did a lot of work with our library inventory and organised our press cuttings into a logical sequence, amongst other tasks.
We, at the Museum, were always appreciative of the home baking she sent along with Colin when he was volunteering."
Funeral arrangements are as follows: 13:00hrs, Wednesday 22nd September at Warriston Crematorium, Warriston Road, Edinburgh EH7 4HW. Friends and former work colleagues are welcome.
The City of Edinburgh will pays its respects with a parade of personnel and appliances on the apron of Crewe Toll Fire Station as the cortege passes. They will also try and provide an appliance to attend at Warriston, but this will be dependent on access, as parking can more often than not can prevent appliance’s getting into the Crematorium.
On the Fireaway facebook page a number of condolences/comments have been posted which you can view at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1648088992167580/?ref=share
